Compass Virtual’s Mood & Anxiety Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Programs for teens 13 to 18 provide short-term, intensive treatment for adolescents whose behavioral health symptoms significantly impair daily functioning.
Group therapy is the primary modality of treatment, providing patients with opportunities to normalize their experience, gain feedback from peers, and practice effective coping skills together. These group experiences are augmented with regular, ongoing psychiatric consultation, individual therapy, and family therapy, as well as educational support (PHP only) and experiential therapies such as art therapy or mindfulness. In both group and individual work, evidence-based therapies are used to help patients develop more effective coping skills, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Compass’s multi-disciplinary team develops an individualized treatment plan for each patient that includes:
Compass Virtual’s customized treatment plans are tailored to the needs of each individual and adapted over the course of treatment. Program participants work with therapists who specialize in mood and anxiety. The group therapy model provides the opportunity to connect with others, normalize experiences, and build group accountability. This individualized approach to treatment supports teens in moving towards achieving a more meaningful and functional life.
Each PHP patient’s treatment team provides education services on a daily basis during the school year to support patients and families in making progress toward their academic and related treatment goals. This includes time each day for supervised study, case management, and coordination of care among the Compass treatment team, the patient’s school teams, and the patient and their family.
Compass recognizes that flexibility is key to ensuring a successful school transition, and your adolescent’s team is in regular communication with their school to adjust the treatment plan if indicated to best support your adolescent.
Currently to participate in Compass Virtual’s PHP/IOP Programs you must be physically located in the state of Illinois at time of each day of treatment.
Travel out of your home state during treatment may be possible, but only if you are already enrolled at the time of travel and if the duration of travel is no longer than one week.
Additional states are coming soon!
Nearly all individuals who try a PHP or IOP find it to be better than their expectations and find the level of engagement to be impactful.
