Join Compass Health Center’s Creative Arts Therapy Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for immediate access to mental health care this winter break through an immersive experience at our Chicago and Oak Brook locations. Our program empowers children with essential coping skills through experiential and art therapies (recreation, drama, yoga, art, improv, and dance movement), promoting emotional well-being, stress management, and ongoing preparedness for the rest of the school year.

This comprehensive program is led by our psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and master’s level clinicians, including individual therapists, group therapists, family therapists, and experiential therapists. Creative art therapies enable children to interact with and understand their environment more deeply.

Dates: December 26, 2023, through January 5, 2024 (rolling admission)

What to Expect

Compass’ multi-disciplinary team develops an individualized treatment plan that is evaluated from diverse expert perspectives for each patient that includes: 

  • Full psychiatric evaluation 
  • Regular psychiatric consultations with a dedicated psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner 
  • Daily structured group therapy 
  • Regular individual therapy sessions with a dedicated individual therapist 
  • Regular family therapy sessions with a dedicated family therapist 
  • Experiential therapies such as improv, dance movement therapy (DMT), drama, art therapy, yoga, recreation, music, and more
  • Ongoing reassessments and modifications to treatment plan 
  • We offer a secure online portal that parents can use to check-in with members of their child’s treatment team


Our customized treatment plans are tailored to the needs of each individual and adapted over the course of treatment. Program participants work with therapists who specialize in mood and anxiety. The group therapy model provides the opportunity to connect with others, normalize experiences, and build group accountability. This individualized approach to treatment supports people in moving towards achieving a meaningful and functional life.
