Compass Health Center – Golden Valley Expands Insurance Coverage, Helping More Minnesota Patients Access Specialized Mental Health Care

For immediate release:

GOLDEN VALLEY, MN, JULY 15, 2026—Compass Health Center’s Golden Valley location announced today that it will be in-network with Optum Minnesota and Medica beginning July 15, 2026. This partnership will allow Compass Health Center to offer its comprehensive, patient-centered Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs to more individuals and families across its in-person location in the Twin Cities area, as well as through its Minnesota-based virtual programs.

In Minnesota, the demand for high-quality behavioral health care continues to grow, reinforcing the importance of providers that can deliver rapid access to timely, evidence-based treatment. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Minnesota (2021), one in three adults in the state reports symptoms of anxiety or depression, while one in six is unable to access needed treatment. Among youth, more than 100,000 adolescents experience a major depressive episode each year, and nearly 60% do not receive care (NAMI, 2025).

In response to the growing need for intensive mental health services, Compass Health Center, a leading provider of psychiatrist-led PHP and IOP, opened a new treatment center in Golden Valley earlier this year. The location expands access to specialized care for adolescents, young adults, and adults throughout the Minneapolis–St. Paul region.

“Expanding access to high-quality mental health care is central to our mission,” said Dr. David Schreiber, founder of Compass Health Center and a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. “As the need for intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization services continues to grow in Minnesota and across the country, we’re committed to ensuring that more individuals and families can access evidence-based, specialized treatment when and where they need it most.”

Unique to Compass Health Center is its commitment to immediate access, ensuring assessments within 24 hours of initial inquiry to prevent unnecessary ER visits and inpatient admissions. Furthermore, psychiatric evaluations are conducted within 24-48 hours of program start. This partnership with Optum Minnesota and Medica will allow more adolescents, young adults, and adults to rapidly access specialized behavioral health treatment during times of crisis.

“Insurance coverage plays a critical role in connecting people to timely mental health care,” said Kelsey Crantz, Director of Payor Relations and Contracting at Compass Health Center. “We’re proud to partner with Optum Minnesota and Medica to help make our specialized programs more accessible to individuals and families across Minnesota and to continue expanding access to care throughout the region.”
