Project Description

Program Overview

The Substance Use Disorder Track focuses on compassionate, evidence-based treatment for co-occurring substance use and psychiatric disorders. Understanding that addiction treatment is not a one size fits all model, the clinical team will utilize the most effective approach to successfully treat each individual patient.  Currently this track is only available for patients admitted to PHP or IOP.

Treatment Goals

This track provides multi-faceted treatment for patients in the Compass adolescent PHP and IOP programs that also struggle with substance use issues. Patients on this track receive support from a Certified Alcohol and other Drug Counselor (CADC) while they reduce or eliminate substance use via leading evidence-based approaches, customized treatment and combined intervention techniques. In addition to the individual counseling with their substance therapist, patients on this track participate in substance-focused process and skills groups and may receive on-site urine drug screening.

Families are required to participate in family therapy, as it greatly facilitates the adolescent’s improvement.

Academic Support

Education services are provided on a daily basis in the adolescent PHP program during the school year to support patients and families in making progress toward their academic and related treatment goals. This includes time each day for supervised study, case management and coordination of care between the Compass treatment team, patients’ school teams, and the patients and their families.

We recognize that flexibility is key to ensuring a successful school transition, and your adolescent’s team is in regular communication with school to adjust the treatment plan if indicated to best support your adolescent.
