Below you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked most.
We treat a variety of disorders at Compass Health Center. However, the most common disorders are depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and substance use.
Our core treatment modalities are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and when appropriate, Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (ERP) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Family therapy is also a core treatment component at Compass.
During the intake process, we will assess whether a patient is appropriate for one of our psychiatric programs. If the clinician determines that Compass is not staffed to effectively treat a patient’s needs, referrals to other providers or programs will be provided, free of charge.
Compass is in-network with BCBS PPO and HMO Illinois, Humana, Cigna, Compsych, Aetna PPO and University of Chicago Insurance Companies. Our Utilization Review Department will work with all insurance companies, whether in or out of network, to pre-authorize and prove medical necessity. If we are out of network with your insurance company, Compass will submit claims to most insurance companies, so that you can be reimbursed your out of network benefits.
Our administrative and utilization review teams are available to patients and parents/guardians to answer questions related to insurance coverage and potential costs and reimbursement as this can be a complex process to understand, especially in periods of crisis.
Every patient at Compass is assigned a multi-disciplinary treatment team to meet his/her individual treatment needs. The patient will meet these team members at the beginning of treatment. For children and adolescents, the parent(s)/guardian(s) will also receive information about the members of the treatment team once the patient begins in a program. At Compass, we feel that communication and collaboration are key factors in successful treatment. As such, members of the team are easily accessible to patients and parents/guardians during treatment.
Each patient’s dedicated team meets daily to discuss progress. Discharge dates and plans, as well as step-down to lower levels of care, are continuously discussed and updated with input from the patient, the treatment team, and any family members involved in the treatment process.
Release of Information
Once a release of ‘information for communication’ with the patient’s school has been obtained, the Compass assigned Education Specialist will communicate with the patient’s school to develop a plan to receive and submit various homework and school assignments. This release will provide the team the ability to communicate with the school regarding your child’s educational and therapeutic progress and to discuss supports.
