New Compass Health Center Location Opens Psychiatrist-Led PHP and IOP Programs in Brookfield, WI Amid Rising Demand for Mental Health Care

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BROOKFIELD, WI, September 22, 2025 – With nearly 1 in 4 adults and 1 in 5 youth in Wisconsin experiencing mental health challenges, and nearly half of youth with major depressive episodes receiving no treatment, Compass Health Center is stepping up to meet the urgent demand. A new state-of-the-art treatment center is now open in Brookfield, WI, delivering psychiatrist-led Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs to the greater Milwaukee area. Assessments for in-person care are available, and patients can often begin in-person care as soon as the same or next day. The expansion will create more than 57 new jobs.

Founded in 2011 in Chicagoland, Compass Health Center has grown to serve communities across four states (WI, IL, MD, VA, DC), helping more than 25,000 patients through its evidence-based programs for children, teens, young adults, and adults. Co-founded by child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrists Dr. David Schreiber and Dr. Claudia Welke, Compass’s mission is to prevent unnecessary ER visits and inpatient hospitalizations by providing timely, high-quality care in the communities that need it most.

“At Compass, we believe that timely, compassionate care should be accessible in every community. We are delivering care faster, closer to home, and with the quality that patients deserve,” said Claudia Welke, MD, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Compass Health Center. “We are proud to bring our proven model of care to Wisconsin and to support the individuals and families who need it most.”

Proven Model of Care

Compass Health Center’s PHP and IOP programs deliver evidence-based therapy and psychiatric care for co-occurring conditions through a coordinated, multidisciplinary team. Patients are assessed within 24 hours and can often start treatment the same or next day.

“Our programs reduce depression and anxiety symptoms by about 50% for both adolescents and adults,” said Welke, MD. “95% of patients step down to a lower level of care after treatment. We are not just helping people stabilize. We are helping them build lasting change.”

Brookfield Leadership & Programs

Compass’s Brookfield programs treat mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, OCD, school anxiety and refusal, and other complex mental health needs. The location is led by a seasoned team, including Roger Luhn, MD, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist; Nahrain Raihan, MD, Associate Director; Chad Wetterneck, PhD, SVP of Clinical Development and Excellence; Sam Klinger, LCSW, Executive Director; and Allison Lancione, LPC, Director of Clinical Services.

“As a member of this community, I know how critical it is to have access to care that actually works,” said Sam Klinger, LCSW, Executive Director, who leads the Compass Health Center in Brookfield. “Compass provides an integrated, psychiatrist-led model that combines therapy and medication management. This approach has been proven to help patients stabilize sooner and stay well longer.”

Virtual & In-Person Care

In addition to the Brookfield location, Compass offers virtual PHP and IOP programs to patients statewide, delivering the same high clinical standards with the convenience of home-based care.
