New Data Shows Compass Health Center Trauma & PTSD Treatment Program Reduces Symptoms by Over Half, On Average
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chicago, IL — October 8, 2025 — Compass Health Center today announced the clinically validated outcomes of its Trauma & PTSD Treatment Program. Individual symptoms go from severe to mild range, on average, experiencing a 50% reduction in overall symptoms, regaining the ability to engage in everyday life.
The program provides comprehensive, specialized care for individuals struggling with trauma and co-occurring disorders. Designed to deliver immediate access to evidence-based treatment, it emphasizes acceptance, empowerment, and values-driven care.
“Trauma affects everything: relationships, work, self-esteem. It can feel overwhelming and isolating,” said Kaitlin Thompson, MBA, LCSW, CADC, Director, Center of Excellence, Compass Health Center. “At Compass Health Center, care begins with acknowledgment, not judgment. Our Trauma & PTSD Treatment Program supports patients with the tools needed to realign their narrative, build resilience, and move toward a life that reflects what matters most to them.”
A Specialized Approach to Trauma Care
Compass Health Center’s Trauma & PTSD Treatment Program integrates leading, research-backed therapies, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches help patients:
- Understand and acknowledge their trauma without judgment.
- Strengthen emotional regulation and coping skills.
- Align treatment with personal values to build a meaningful path forward.
Unlike outpatient therapy, which often takes place once per week, Compass provides Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) levels of care, structured environments that offer multiple hours of daily therapy and psychiatrist support. This intermediate level of care creates stability and provides patients with consistent, coordinated support.
Integrated Care for Co-occurring Disorders
In addition to addressing trauma and PTSD, the program is designed to treat the full complexity of patients’ mental health needs. Many individuals living with trauma also experience co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or substance use. Compass Health Center’s integrated model ensures these challenges are addressed together, rather than in isolation.
Healing in Community
Trauma can feel isolating, but healing is strengthened in community. Patients at Compass connect with peers who share similar experiences, creating a sense of belonging and validation.
Representation is central to the program’s design. Patients have consistently voiced the importance of seeing themselves reflected in both staff and peers. Compass’s diverse, inclusive team helps ensure that individuals feel seen, understood, and supported throughout their healing journey.
A Values-Driven Path Forward
Compass’s Trauma & PTSD Treatment Program is centered in the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Rather than focusing on erasing the past, Compass guides patients to acknowledge what they’ve endured, build psychological flexibility, and define what follows based on their own values.
Compass’s new outreach campaign messaging for the program is grounded in the taglines: “Understand What You Carry, Define What Follows,” and “From What’s Heavy to What’s Next.”
“These messages reflect the heart of our program,” said Compass Chief Medical Officer & Co-Founder, Claudia Welke, MD. “Trauma doesn’t have to define someone’s future. With the right, evidence-based tools, support, and community, individuals can claim agency and live a life that feels true to them.”
Immediate Access to Care
Compass Health Center offers same- and next-day assessments to ensure individuals and families can access care when it is most needed. By combining immediate access with comprehensive, psychiatrist-led treatment, Compass provides a safe and effective path forward for those carrying the weight of trauma.
