Compass Health Center Hosts Golden Valley Ribbon Cutting for New Minnesota Mental Health Center
Minneapolis, MN — April 30, 2026 — At a time when many Minnesotans face long wait times for mental health services, Compass Health Center welcomed local clinicians, community leaders, mental health advocates, and neighbors for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 22 and a community open house on April 23, highlighting expanded access to specialized mental health care in the Twin Cities.
Nearly 1 in 5 Minnesotans experience a mental health condition each year, and many families struggle to find timely, integrated treatment. Compass Health Center’s Minnesota in-person and virtual programs are designed to help address this gap by providing immediate access to specialized, multi-disciplinary mental health care for adolescents, young adults, and adults.
“That’s why Compass is here—not to talk about the problem, but to be part of the solution. This center brings more than 50 jobs to Golden Valley and provides families immediate access to high-quality, psychiatrist-led care, right here in their community and virtually across the state,” said Compass Health Center’s President, Paul Mueller, MSW.
Compass Health Center provides psychiatrist-led Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient programs, offering structured treatment for individuals who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy or psychiatry, but do not require inpatient hospitalization. Through coordinated psychiatric care and therapy, the programs are designed to help individuals stabilize symptoms, build coping skills, and thrive in daily functioning.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony recognized Compass Health Center’s investment in community-based mental health programs and the role of intermediate levels of care in supporting individuals earlier in their treatment journeys. Speakers emphasized how treatment in Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) can help stabilize individuals before symptoms escalate to the point of requiring emergency department visits or inpatient hospitalization.
A key feature of the Compass model is rapid access to care. Patients are typically assessed within 24 hours, and many can begin treatment the same or the next day. This approach helps reduce delays that often prevent individuals from receiving timely support. Compass’s clinical outcomes data shows that earlier access to care, combined with an appropriate length of treatment, can significantly improve long-term outcomes for patients.
Founded in 2011, Compass Health Center provides evidence-based mental health care in-person and virtually across multiple states. Its multidisciplinary treatment teams work collaboratively to deliver coordinated psychiatric care and therapy for a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), school anxiety and avoidance, and mental health, chronic pain, and illness.
