From the Wisconsin State Journal: Wisconsin Schools Face Mental Health Crisis, Need Resources
A new school year should bring excitement. Yet for many families in Wisconsin, it also brings fear that their child won’t have access to the mental health support they need.
In her recent Wisconsin State Journal op-ed, Katrina Sukovich, LCSW, MSW, Associate Director of Adolescent Programs at Compass Health Center – Brookfield, highlights the critical gap in resources available to teens. While schools play an essential role in noticing when something is wrong, they cannot provide the higher level of support many students require.
“Students dealing with significant anxiety, depression, trauma or other issues often need more help than a school counselor can consistently and comprehensively provide. The wider community must be ready to assist with additional resources.” – Wisconsin State Journal Op-Ed by Katrina Sukovich
