Compass Health Center Celebrates New Location in Golden Valley — Featured on CCX News
On April 22, 2026, Compass Health Center officially cut the ribbon on our newest location in Golden Valley, Minnesota, expanding access to specialized mental health care for teens, young adults, and adults across the west metro and virtually throughout the entire state. Co-founder, Psychiatrist, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Claudia Welke was on hand to welcome community members, local leaders, and the Compass team, and to sit down with CCX News for a feature interview that originally aired Friday, April 24, 2026.
Why Golden Valley, and Why Now
The need for accessible, evidence-based mental health care continues to grow across Minnesota. Our new Golden Valley location brings Compass’s partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs closer to families in the west and northwest suburbs, reducing drive times, shortening waitlists, and opening up more pathways to the right level of care at the right time.
“We do the in-between to those two things,” Dr. Welke said. “It’s a comprehensive model where we bring it all together to work towards stabilizing patients while they’re still at home. And then we discharge them back to the community, back to work, back to school, whatever it is that they were doing before they were going through that crisis.”

The Golden Valley center is designed to feel welcoming from the moment you walk in, with dedicated spaces for our adolescent, young adult, and adult programs, group therapy rooms, and quiet spaces for one-on-one work with clinicians. Specialty programs include:
“When you’re in a mental health crisis, you need help in that moment,” Dr. Welke explained. “That immediate access is something that we really work hard toward and really feel like is lifesaving. When people are in a mental health crisis, speed matters.”
