Project Description

Program Overview

The After-School Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) treats children struggling with various mood and anxiety disorders that require more intensive and wrap-around treatment than would be available in outpatient settings and also do not require a higher level of care such as PHP or hospitalization.  Children in this program continue to learn coping skills while going to school.

Treatment Goals

Treatment plans are individualized and developed for each patient by Compass’ multidisciplinary team. Evidence-based therapies used to help children develop more effective coping skills include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Group therapy is the primary modality of treatment so as to provide patients with opportunities to normalize their experience, gain feedback from same-age peers, and practice effective coping skills and social skills together. Parents are also encourage to use online Individual check-ins to address specific concerns.

Families are required to participate in family therapy as it greatly facilitates the child’s improvement.
