Project Description
Program Overview
The Compass Health Center Child Adoption Track is designed for adopted patients and their families. The purpose of this track is to provide a space to address common themes associated with adopted youth and families at the PHP level of care.
Treatment Goals
Evidence-based therapies, such as CBT and DBT, continue to be the primarily modality specifically addressing the ways in which depression, anxiety, and/or other mental health concerns are impacted by experiences related to adoption. In this once a week group, patients will process the difficult situations they encounter while also learning and practicing evidence-based strategies to cope effectively. The track meets once weekly and offers two opportunities for family therapy/parent coaching.
- Provide additional support to adopted families through a specialized parent support group.
- Provide you the space to address common themes associated in adoption while utilizing CBT and DBT to address depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.
- Help patients learn concrete coping skills such as distress tolerance, emotional management skills, relaxation techniques, and effective communication skills.
All Compass programs include a family/support therapy session once a week or as clinically indicated. External support is essential for successful treatment and is proven as a comprehensive approach to mental wellness.
